Youth Ministries – Junior High School
Connect
Connect is our Wednesday night middle school & high school ministry. It is held in cooperation with Calvary OPC of Cedar Grove and takes place at Faith Reformed most weeks. Connect gives students the opportunity to break away from their weekly routines to connect with God and each other. Students are encouraged to gather for fellowship & snack as early as 6:00PM; worship begins at 6:20 and the night concludes at 7:30. After fellowship, middle schoolers will gather for worship led by a live band. Then, they will break up into smaller groups and cover a lesson that will help them apply God’s truth to their daily lives using curriculum from Great Commission Publications and Answers in Genesis in alternating years. After the lesson, all middle schoolers will close the night with a group activity. Also, once per month at Connect, we hold special events that emphasize fellowship, service and more to help the students practice what they’re learning. Connect meets from September through April and all students grades 6-12 are welcome to join us!
Core
Core groups are small group Bible studies for middle and high school students. They are held in cooperation with Calvary OPC of Cedar Grove, and take place at Faith Reformed on Sunday nights from 6:00-7:00PM from September through the beginning of May. Core groups help students learn how to read the Bible on their own, which is a lifelong discipline at the core of Christian living. Groups are divided by age and gender and are valuable in developing relationships with Christian peers who will help each other navigate through life together alongside adult leaders that serve as mentors.
Sunday School
During the school year, we hold Sunday school for Middle School students after the morning service each Sunday from 10:30-11:20AM. Grades 5-8 work through the entire Bible by working through Great Commission Publications’ G2R (Genesis to Revelation) curriculum.
Summer Fellowship
On Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-3:00PM during July and August the Middle School group meets for fellowship and a devotion. We do a wide variety of local activities and games including trips to the Sheboygan Quarry Aquapark, mini golf, afternoons at the park or at a pool, and much more!
Silver Birch Retreat
Each November, our Middle School students are invited to go on a retreat to Silver Birch Ranch near White Lake, WI. It’s a great chance for youth to break away from their routines with all kinds of indoor and outdoor fun (see: silverbirchranch.org/recreation). But more importantly, each year we’ll work through Bible lessons based around a theme. Silver Birch is a great opportunity for middle schoolers to grow in their relationships with each other and God!
